Akhila Health Strategic Expansion Plan

Because every woman deserves access to healing ~ body, mind, & spirit

Underserved women are 75% more likely to experience physiological distress (or stress) than other segments of society. Yet most still lack access to the care needed to heal - body, mind, and spirit.

Akhila Health bridges this critical gap in care. We deliver holistic wellness programs directly to underserved women in trusted community spaces. Each workshop offers a safe, welcoming environment where women can share, discuss, and heal.

Our trauma-informed approach combines mindfulness, gentle movement, and self-care practices—like breathwork, meditation, and yoga—to reduce stress, build resilience, and support wholeness of body, mind, and spirit.

Dear Akhila Health Community,

Everything Akhila Health has become is because of you—our facilitators, partners, donors, volunteers, and advocates.

This year marks a pivotal moment for Akhila Health.

With support from the John Muir Community Health Fund, we finalized a Strategic Expansion Plan in July 2025—a compassionate roadmap to extend our impact, beginning in Central and Eastern Contra Costa County. Rooted in equity, trauma-informed care, and whole-person healing, this plan ensures more women have access to the tools they need to manage stress, restore balance, and reclaim agency over their health and lives. We are honored that John Muir Community Health Fund has awarded us a $100,000 grant to begin implementation—our first major institutional funding and a powerful affirmation of our mission.

As we step into this exciting next phase, your continued support is more essential than ever. Together, we are building a future where every woman—regardless of income, background, or circumstance—has access to the tools, support, and connection she needs to heal, grow, and thrive - body, mind, and spirit!

As you explore this page, we invite you to learn more about what’s ahead—and to imagine what we can build together! We truly appreciate your support.

With gratitude,

I wish we could get this workshop every week. Wonderful experience. Taught me things I can do to help myself!

Why Expansion Matters

The need for accessible, whole-person care has never been greater. Underserved women bear a disproportionate burden of trauma, illness, and stress—often linked to homelessness, domestic violence, cancer, or poverty—yet affordable behavioral health support remains out of reach.

Demand for Akhila’s programs proves this gap: workshop participation has grown 30% year over year for three years, and in 2025 alone, we’ve already served over 40% more women than by this time last year.

By expanding our reach, we can:
Serve more women in more communities.
Offer deeper and more diverse wellness programs.
Build partnerships with organizations already serving women in need.
Remove barriers by bringing services into trusted, familiar spaces.

Courtney is an amazing facilitator and educator. I learned so much new and interesting material, and just felt a lot of hope and encouragement as a result of her teachings.
